Einhorn Effect: Microsoft Shoots Higher After Hedge Fund Endorsement | blogs.wsj.com
Einhorn may have a point with what is going on with Microsoft. Wall Street operates by perception. It does not matter if Ballmer is a smart or a good guy, perception is reality. The tragedy of the stock market is that perception is reality and facts do not seem to matter.

May 26, 2011
The next generation LTE (Long Term Evolution) will provide a much enhanced user experience coupled with ultra fast broadband, and low latency. In addition, this new evolutionary system will offer a compelling business proposition for all operators, enabling a smooth migration path, flexible spectrum bandwidth, and the ability to deliver low cost per bit voice and data services.

Nokia to Shake Up Workforce | online.wsj.com
Nokia’s recent actions are all signs of a massive turnaround that is underway. The company had announced layoffs months ago and now they are happening. Transparency, an overused and misused word in Washington, D.C., is absolutely necessary in a turnaround of this magnitude.

As I had noted in my own website back in March 2011, the Japanese earthquake could have long-term impacts on the manufacturing of semiconductor chips in Japan and basically the entire electronics industry. Well, it appears it has all come true.
Sprint Lobbying Efforts – Outspent by AT&T

AT&T Outguns Sprint in Lobbying | online.wsj.com
Well you live and learn. The problem with regulatory budgets is that they are massive and unless you have a specific set of short term and long term objectives in mind, then it is important not to spend the money just for the sake of it. In short, Sprint did not need to spend that kind of money on lobbying in the last few years.

RIM Stirs Investor Doubts | online.wsj.com
About a year ago, I commented in Wireless Week that RIM was facing an uphill battle and would lose market share. Now the company is in trouble and it may be too late.

AT&T to Buy T-Mobile USA | online.wsj.com
Economies of scale is king in the Mobile Industry. The At&t acquisition is overpriced considering that T-Mobile churned over 14.5 million of its 32 million customers last year.
