Adobe's New Flash Server Pricing Improves CDNs P&L, Lowers License Fee For Customers | blog.streamingmedia.com
While Adobe has gotten a lot of traction in the market with their Flash video platform, many content companies have not adopted Flash streaming due to the server license costs or the license fee that CDNs are required to charge for Flash streaming. With today's announcement by Adobe of Flash Media Server 3 and the new Flash Media Interactive Server, those licensing costs have now been drastically reduced.

Adobe Launches New Websites Showcasing HD Video Content | blog.streamingmedia.com
Last week, Adobe quietly launched two new HD websites that showcases content in HD quality using the Flash platform. The launch of the sites also coincided with the launch of a new product section at the top of the main Adobe.com website. Different images and products are highlighted each time you load the page and one of them promotes "The fusion of TV and the Internet" and links to a site I had not seen until now at adobe.com/flashon. The flashon site contains movie trailers from some of the major studios as well as some other content. It's been a busy week for Adobe and they have really increased the volume of HD quality content for demonstration on their websites.

Content Delivery Pricing: Understanding CDN Overages | blog.streamingmedia.com
I’ve seen numerous reports lately by some in the financial community talking to “bursting” overages by CDN providers. Many of these references talk to overages incorrectly and some analysts might benefit from better understanding the two different ways CDNs charge for their services and exactly how “bursting” fees play into a CDNs bottom line.

Will 3D be the savior for IMAX?

IMAX makes screen play | www.variety.com
Lots of us considered IMAX down and out in recent years as the institutional theater market (museums, etc.) began to dry up and as IMAX and others failed to provide sufficient appropriate content to the commercial theater circuits to which the Company was selling systems. Now with 3D being one of the very HOT topics in Hollywood and due to the success of two opening weekends of Beowulf in Imax 3D, the time may be right for Imax.

Looming Online Security Threats in 2008 | www.businessweek.com
Most if not every PC user knows they need some form of malware protection and most if not all PCs ship with some form of malware protection. So our PCs are pretty safe these days. But most people who use MySpace have no idea that they need protection when on MySpace (or FaceBook or any other "social" website).

CNN enters the virtual world of Second Life | www.cnn.com
The online world Second Life (SL) and the similar World of Warcraft both seem to indicate that the Internet is no longer just for websites. Even Google is rumored to be working on its own online world. So are these just other ways of showing more online ads or is this something new?
Why might Apple be allowing their new MacOS Leopard to run inside a Virtual Machine?

Apple to Allow Virtualization of Leopard | db.tidbits.com
If Apple does indeed allow for their MacOS to run inside a Virtual Machine then people will no longer have to buy Apple computers to run MacOS. This could open the way for Apple's MacOS to be used inside corporations who normally do not want to spend too much money on "computers that look pretty". It also allows Apple to participate in the next wave of desktop virtualization. Are they starting to make their MacOS a separate business?

VMware Reports Third-Quarter Results | vmware.com
VMware has first mover advantage, but they are not alone in this "new" space of server virtualization. When will Microsoft enter this space? And if they do how will it impact VMware? Is VMware doing enough to stay ahead of the game?
