Buying Downwards "Ripe Time For Dollar Stores"
November 1, 2010
Peoples buying habits have changed over the past two years and the Dollar Store Industry is being rewarded for our current economic conditions. You also see a change from Target customers now shopping at these stores along with Walmart.
Chiootle Mexican Grill " Mucho Caliente"
November 1, 2010
Chipotle undoubtedly leads the way in "Fast Casual Mexican" theme restaurants. One thing that makes this model work extremely well is its simplicity. The restaurants are very easy to manage and extremely profitable.I always wonder why they out perform their competition so much, and its easy to see why. They offer fresher products, they never abandon their concept by adding senseless products that don't compliment their concept, and their committed to staying with what got them to where they are today.
Tough times ahead for Red Robin
November 1, 2010
While I like their burgers and their commitment to being a "family restaurant", I don't see a bright fututre for this company. While the last quarter showed a modest decline in comp sales, they were up against a terrible quarter in 2009 and I thought they should have at least broke even.

Walmart & Target vs. The "Dollar Industry"

It’s convenient, nutritious and tastes good. The adult brands like Special K and Fiber One also work well for Mom and Dad.
Coffee Market Competition Remains Hot
October 20, 2010
Americans love their coffee and despite rising prices the love affair continues. Americans consume over $45 Billion dollars worth of coffee every year. Retail coffee shops like Starbucks drive most consumption but foodservice locations (offices, hotels, schools, restaurants) and the supermarket and grocery channel also drive strong sales. Despite a fickle and price sensitive consumer, coffee consumption continues to grow. As one would expect competition remains intense with ever growing crossover of retail brands (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Caribou, Peets) into the home and foodservice channels.
