Sprint Nextel-Virgin Mobile: What Does Sprint ‘Want to Be When It Grows Up?” | blogs.wsj.com
SK Telecom (SKT) is planning to sell all of its 15.3% shares of Virgin Mobiles USA for the pure investment purposes with Sprint acquiring Virgin Mobile USA. The 15.3% of shares are converted into a dismal 0.53% shares after Sprint's acquisition and this kills the South Korean global operator's strategic importance to Sprint. SK Telecom's future attempts to acquire any significant operator will definitely be on a hold for very long time with painful lessons learned from Helio MVNO.

Oracle Acquisition 'Transforms Market' | www.crn.com
The acquisition of Sun MicroSystems will allow Oracle to expand their Software portfolio in many different areas and create a tremendous challenge for other software vendors. On the software side, it makes sense. Especially in business mobility and applications for smart phones, where Oracle does not exist and SUN/JAVA is the preferred language shared by most application developers in this sector. Also, SUN "FREE" Open Office applications which is similar to Microsoft Office Suite. It has been a long time since we heard from Redwood vs Redmond while the focus was shifted to SAP and other ERP providers. This is a great opportunity to put Oracle back in saddle competing with Microsoft in the smart phone apps-market. Also, creating noise for free Open-Office and JAVA. In addition, let's not forget JAVA role with Oracle family of applications. On the Hardware side, it is a different matter. Sun has been struggling without any success to revive this sector.

Cyber crime profits running into trillions of dollars | www.itnews.com.au
Information security technology vendors have been trying to catch up with the hacker community with little success in the last couple years. Most of their tools are out of date the day that they are released for sophisticated attacks. The hacker community has become more organized and focused on their goal to quietly make money through the use of malicious software and social engineering without advertising their capabilities. The vendor community needs to change the fundamental ways the design and produce technology or at a minimum reset expectations on the value proposition of their capabilities if they are to continue to drive value and not become commoditized in enterprise information technology environments.
