Bunge, the world's largest oilseed processor, has centered a large portion of it's global agribusiness empire around Brazil, including a recent major expansion there in sugar and ethanol. Their fertilizer business was a large money maker a few years ago, but has slipped drastically. Vale, previously know as Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, is a major metals and mining operation that has been looking to expand into fertilizer mining. This is an interesting play with implications for others as well.

The EPA had to reply this week to a request to determine if it would authorize a 15% blend of ethanol. It replied, saying it would require more time to complete extensive trials.

Bunge Ltd , Archer Daniels Midland, Cargill, Nobel Group , Louis Dreyfus, Glencore International and even Gavilon LLC could be interested or already in talks with AWB for a possible acquisition of more then just their Geneva grain trading operations. It would seem logical that someone might be interested in these assets, but who would it be?
