AMR on Yahoo! Finance | finance.yahoo.com
The stock trading chart for AMR, the parent of American Airlines, looks like the downward trek from the summit of Mount Everest. It last traded at $4.36, with today's rates bouncing between $4.26 and $4.59. The 52 week high is $8.98. This past week American announced the largest aircraft order in history with Boeing and Airbus. Next week, a dangerous game of chicken with Sabre will play out, with AA threatening to pull out of the US' largest global distribution system company's displays.

5Q Interview with Richard Anderson (Delta CEO) | www.thetransnational.travel
In reference to "Richard Anderson, Delta Air Lines (5Q Interview)" I published my blog today which was entitled:To Delta Airlines: I would have built the website for $80 million.....As a follow on to my earlier article last week about doing the math on distribution costs, I can't resist commenting on Delta spending $100 million on its website, or roughly $1 per passenger boarded, based on 2010 performance).
Other 2 reasons and 1 pledge for return of manufacturing to America

Made (again) in the USA: The return of American manufacturing | finance.fortune.cnn.com
The article neatly presents several of the reasons for the return of manufacturing to America, but it is not complete.I will argue there are two more reasons, namely:- the ever faster product churn-out in most industries- the progress in 3D design and rapid prototyping Also, when thinking of the support that manufacturing brings to employment and the economy at large, one should stress that investing in manufacturing facilities brings stability over the medium term to local economies.
High speed train TAV in Italy, one more example

Public acceptance: the energy sector's biggest headache | www.europeanenergyreview.eu
In recent days EU has warned Italy that if work did not start to build the new high speed train line with France, they would loose all Community funds. In the albeit complex political and legal framework that governs public works in Italy, all entities had agreed that this train line is a good thing for the country, allowing better reach from West to Eastern Europe. Left, center and right parties all agreed. Not the local community: the site was blocked and police had to come in with tear gas.

Chipotle and Panera are fast-casual restaurants, meaning you still order at a register but they are certainly a step above fast food restaurants. They offer a classier ambiance and better, albeit pricier, menu choices. It should be noted that this design is not going overlooked by the fast food players.
Who is the biggest Global Distribution Systems Company?

Who is the biggest GDS? | distribution-solutionz.blogspot.com
Today's blog is on topic that I have been personally intrigued with since I wrote my first book on Global Distribution in 1999 - GDS Share. When I wrote my last book on the GDS companies, I got all of the GDS companies to share with me their booking share data by region and I forced them to rationalize their differences so that no one would object to what was published. That was a decade ago and the marketplace (and the owners) are different, and so is the availability of GDS booking share data.
Travel Industry Market Share has a New Definition (and will need new metrics)

Market Share has a new Definition | distribution-solutionz.blogspot.com
Today's blog is a discussion about the term "market share" when used in the travel distribution ecosystem context.Let me start by saying that prior to the advent of the Internet in the mid-90s, third party travel distribution was dominated by the Global Distribution Companies (GDS) and booking share was most easily estimated by the use of MIDT (marketing information data tapes).

Consumer scale to counter NIMBY

Public acceptance: the energy sector's biggest headache | www.europeanenergyreview.eu
Most energy projects face a distinct risk with public opinion: local communities require convincing and even incentives to accept new power stations in their territory, and this also applies to wind farms and PV parks.Still, consumers actually embrace enthusiastically their "private" installations: from the small wind turbine to building integrated photovoltaic panels, to more complex geo-thermical sources, when energy is made for direct consumption acceptance is more readily available.
