Huawei Predicts 29% Growth in 2009 | www.lightreading.com
Huawei is a major force in the telecom equipment space. Price pressure on the European vendors and cost of capital will drive the NA carriers to invite the Chinese vendors to participate. US carriers cannot put their whole trust in the European vendors to meet their unique NA requirements. The Chinese government being one of the largest US government bond holders will put political pressure on the US carriers to deal with the Chinese vendors.

AT&T the Latest to Jump on the Femto Wagon | www.unstrung.com
AT&T's successful launch of Apple's 3G is going to increase the demand on the 3G network. With the economic downturn and credit challenges may force AT&T to accelerate the roll out of 3G Femto to reduce the capital expenditure for coverage and capacity. Huawei Retreat Sets Back China Tech Plans | www.businessweek.com
With Huawei's inability to successfully penetrate the US market, it may use the fire sale of Nortel's assets to get substantial footprint in the US market, as long as the regulators in Washington and Ottawa allow the deal to go through. Also, given the economic condition and down turn in capital expenditures among all carriers, it is not clear as which vendor will remain standing after the dust settles. Huawei is already viewed among the top three global equipment vendors, at least by its competitors!
