More testing is needed, especially for terminals and chipsets, and China Mobile does not want to give the impression that LTE will replace TD-SCDMA, the ill-fated 3G service. Overall, LTE will become a test for China Mobile’s new strategy, as the operator is anxious to maintain growth.

However, the operator wants to run more tests before commercial service begins, especially for things like terminals (handsets and data cards) and bandwidth-demanding apps such as video and security.
