Three steps to make social media sell
February 10, 2012
Knowing how to update your Facebook page, write an engaging blog, or create a viral YouTube video is, commercially speaking, worthless without knowing how social media platforms produce sales. The truth is that social media’s sudden arrival and instant popularity is causing most entrepreneurs to lose perspective on the ultimate goal:selling. In this sluggish economy, revenue trumps being most “liked” or highly “engaged with.”
Bending Some Rules While Upholding Others Unwisely?

RT: Moodys' Portugal Debt Evaluation | rt.com
The EU is at a cross roads. Top level political criticism by the likes of German Finance Minister Schauble of the right for ratings agencies to speak freely does not portend towards the EU being an open and dynamic project. Rather the worry is that the EU establishment is going backwards in terms of all rights when faced with a financial crisis which they themselves helped create.
Groupon. Don't Buy The Hype (unless you get a discount).

Behind dazzling growth story, Groupon struggles to keep ustomers clicking | www.chicagobusiness.com
The theory behind Groupon is a great one. In today's money-saving age, one builds a massive following by offering phenomenal deals. Offer those deals by providing the sellers with a immediate, quantifiable boost in traffic and revenue. However, like perpetual motion, the idea that Groupon's model will be self-sustaining is a flawed theory. Groupon will be a flash in the pan and will go down in history as the worst overvaluations in modern history. There are many reasons for this. Here are three.

May 30, 2011
Polkomtel To Be Sold by Auction | www.warsawvoice.pl
"Plus" Polkomtel, a privately held Polish telco is still in the process of being sold. The rather long-drawn out sales process presumably reflects relative buyer apathy for a company which has appeared at best dysfunctional to some clients.Bidders may wish to consider their options. After all the only telco holding stock currently is itself a global market leader and apparently happy to sell out of Polkomtel despite the many underlying attractions to investing in Poland's growing economy.

"Change in Canada The IPO Column" | eepurl.com
The Maple consortium of large Canadian banks led by the best Canadian Exchange Manager, Luc Bertrand, is likely to acquire the Canadian exchange TMX. The London Stock Exchange looks unlikely to be able to win the prize against a very strong bid.
Sears' downward spiral: No more rabbits to pull out of the hat
May 4, 2011
Sears Holdings continues to report worsening financial results and even more distressing relative competitive performance. Yet their response continues to be a focus on cost-cutting, share buybacks and strategic tweaking that does little to address the reality of how dire their situation truly is.
NASDAQ-NYSE: Perhaps It's Just An April Fool's Day Prank?
April 1, 2011
The worst kept secret in exchange mergers, a NASDAQ ICE bid for NYSE Euronext has finally been announced on April Fool's Day. This may be an unfortunate choice of date for a deal without many clear merits.
For the big growth, Best Buy needs to look far beyond their stores

Best Buy CEO Dunn Reboots to Win Back Customers From Wal-Mart, Amazon.com | www.bloomberg.com
Best Buy’s greatest point of leverage is not in a new store design, or revamped store assistance, but in getting CE and PC suppliers to bring products to market with use-model and lifestyle changes to help fuel a whole new revenue-pumping cycle of healthy demand, for both Best Buy and the entire industry.
