The big news is that Las Vegas' new home market appears to be on the rebound. After nine consecutive months of visitor increase, two consecutive months of increased gaming win ... and despite 14.5% unemployment in June ... local housing statistics for Las Vegas contained three shocking numbers and the portent of better times to come.

The Beginning of the Recovery | www.realestateconsulting.com
In March 2008, we rolled out an educational video on housing cycles that ended with, “Remember that every down cycle is the beginning of the next up cycle.” We believe we are currently at "The Bottom" heading into "The Beginning" of the next housing cycle.

Home Price Data is Very Misleading | www.realestateconsulting.com
June 28, 2010There are great home price tools today to help you with the decision you are making. However, Case Shiller (CS) and median prices are not the right ones.Executive decision makers want to know whether prices are trending up or down, and that question has never been harder to answer. When forced to answer the question, we say that most home prices are reverting to 2003 prices – some areas have overcorrected and some have not fully corrected.
Fish Farming, Aquaculture And The Boom

A fish tale: Aquaculture set to boom | www.msnbc.msn.com
"As population grows, so will fish farming", so says the article, and it is apparent by all measures that this statement is quite accurate. The Croatian farm highlighted gives us some insightful observations into a world population in need of an ever expanding volume of food products and basic protein.
LAS VEGAS: Entering a New Real Estate Phase
June 22, 2010
Two key factors should have severely damaged May Las Vegas housing stats. --- Nevada had the highest unemployment in the nation. --- Special Federal funding was withdrawn at the end of April.Surprisingly, the negative impact was much gentler than expected. Concentrating on just those two stats overlooks another -- perhaps more important -- indicator: Las Vegas appears to have entered the second phase of its foreclosure crisis … and thus far it appears less damaging than it might have been.
Aquaculture And The Open-Ocean Option

Fish farms don't explode | www.seafoodsource.com
The referenced article again brings into focus how shortsighted some government officials can be when it comes to aquaculture and the options it presents. The industry must continue expansion so as to satisfy our ever growing fishery needs. How one senator can be so ill informed and have obviously made decisions based on a narrow opinion toward an industry that must develop, is unfortunate to say the least.

Gulf oil spill may run until August | fis.com
"US Government and BP officials have warned that the exploded oil well spewing unprecedented amounts of oil into the Gulf of Mexico may not be stopped until August."What? How can we just accept this outrageous statement. Oh, we tried, it did not work................to bad.
LAS VEGAS: On the Road to Recovery

It's Reset Time For Valley Real Estate | www.lvrj.com
Las Vegas April housing data is a mixed bag containing some good news, some great news and a little news that less than attractive. However, even as Las Vegas continues the positive trend found in the first quarter, the market cannot yet be called “in recovery.” But, that’s the direction the data suggests the market is moving. In April, sales were strong, inventory fell slightly and prices remained relatively stable. Here are the details:
Where Is The Outrage toward BP From Seafood and Fisheries
May 19, 2010
We read daily about the failures of BP to stem the tide of the horrific oil spill, and we see story after story about the seafood industry participants going bankrupt. Where are the watch dog agencies, the nature conservationalists and government agencies? Why do we not have Greenpeace steaming their ships into the Gulf in protest. We are watching the entire Gulf coastal producing regions suffering what may be a death blow, and yet it is the quietest catastrophe in recent memory.
US Fisheries Are Showing Sustainability Efforts are Working
May 12, 2010
In a recently released report on the state of the USA fisheries, our combined efforts are showing great results. NOAA's report card for 2009 is in and we have received good marks, not great but far better that one thought possible not but a short time ago. Now the efforts need to continue as well as we must get the other world fisheries regulators and industry leaders to follow our example.
