May 4, 2010
This may be a stretch, but how better to illustrate our tenuous grip on our ocean food supply than the latest disaster in the Gulf. The severity and cost is yet to be determined, as is the disruption that we are already starting to see in our seafood supply. The price of seafood just went up.

My view is that the market has stabilized enough for these programs to be phased out and I will use points of the article to discuss what the next 1 to 2 years hold for institutional investors, banks, and homebuyers.

We are truly in trouble if this becomes the accepted way of preserving the habitat in our oceans. In the recent action regarding bluefin tuna, we see money is king. We know that to be true in most all things, but we should be living with checks and balances that at least attempt to insure some sustainability in our oceans. I thought we were.

And more importantly, who is industry sponsored and driven, and who is trying legitimately to look out for you, me and the future of an entire words fish population.
