Today Cendant announced a new CEO, Jeff Clarke former COO of CA, for its Travel Distribution Division. The entity to be known as Travelport is one of the four entities targeted for spinoff this summer from the parent.
It is significant that they selected an individual with no travel industry background to head up this business unit which is comprised of both a B2C component (Orbitz, Cheaptickets, EBookers, Lodging.com, etc.) and a strong B2B business as well (Galileo, WizCom, Trust, aiRes, Travelport/Orbitz for Business). Clarke is known for his turnaround of CA amidst significant challenges over the past two years.
