Soybeans are in their pod filling stage. For the past 3 weeks there has been an area impacting some of Iowa, Illinois and Indiana with "abnormally dry" to "moderate drought". This will have an impact on yields.

Does the low percent of Hard Red Spring wheat heading have an impact on end stocks to use and price? This present MGEX Weekly Wire discovered there was one other year when the percent of wheat heading was less and presents timely data.

USDA did present the first details of supply and demand for Spring and Durum wheat in its July WASDE report. 2011-2012 end stocks to use for Durum wheat are tight and the second lowest dating back to 1995. What happened to the end stocks to use and futures when USDA released its subsequent January WASDE?

Durum Wheat (pasta) 2011 plantings are not going well. There are two states which plant the majority of the U.S. production. There are other nations which plant, use and export durum and you can decide if weather is a problem in 2011.

The US Senate last week approved to eliminate the blending tax credit and to open the market to Brazilian ethanol effective July 1st. This is not going to happen that quickly or completely, but something is going to happen soon.
Planted Acres instead of Prospective Acres

The USDA WASDE is different than USDA's prospective acres and planted acres. USDA's WASDE did cut corn acres on June 9. They have done it before. Does this suggest the June Planted Acres will be the same as the USDA WASDE? Find out by reading the following.

The wet spring has pushed back total seeded acreage of corn to where it will be impossible to have the high yield and large acreage needed to replenish inventories. In the Eastern Corn Belt delays in planting corn will force farmers to plant soybeans, if they can ever get into the field.
